What negative things can happen after you file a 13? I know you can't get credit but can stuff happen like your cancellation of your auto insurance...or your mortage increasing...or your bank closing your account? These may be dumb scenarios but I have never done this and just want to be kinda sorta prepared.

Frankly, none of those issues should desuade you from filing for BK. If you are contemplating BK, then you have much more pressing and "immediate" financial issues that need to be addressed...so worrying about "what might happen" in the future is simply your brain trying to avoid facing "current" reality.
In any event...nothing will happen with your mortgage. If the mortgage goes up, it does so on its own accord, i.e. if you are an ARM, or something like that. Typically banks do not "close" accounts becuase of credit issues. Your auto insurance probably wouldn't be cancelled, but your rates could increase.

Arlington - you should be ok with your insurance, as long as it is paid up when you file (i.e. and not included in your filing papers - keep it OUT of the filing), AND you keep up the payments after you file.
Insurance, utilities and house/car payments need to be kept up with, unless you are surrending any of them.Filed Business Chapter 7: 7/11/07
