    Money Management Workshop

I received a letter to attend a money management workshop. But we had missed it due to unexpected circumstances. I read we only had 45 days from our 341 meeting, Is that for all states? My letter said we had to have a reservation and it was about a 45 mile drive to that class. our 341 meeting was Oct. 4th. so will the Trustee send a letter for the next class or will they dismiss our case?

If the letter you received was about the required post-filing financial management (aka debtor education) course, then yes, you must take and complete it before your case is discharged.

If you don't turn in the certificate of completion before your case is discharged, then your case will be dismissed.

If you filed with a lawyer, call him/her immediately in the morning and find out what your options are.

If you filed without a lawyer, then go to this website http://www.usdoj.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa/ccde/de_approved.htm and select your state. All the possible places you can take the required debt education class are listed. At this point, I would take the class online - it will be much faster. You'll have your required post-filing certificate immediately with some agencies and within a week with others.

Get moving! You don't want to have your post-filing class be the cause for having your case dismissed after waiting through your 60 days!
