    USAA Insurance and Credit

Quick question to see if anyone has had experience with USAA. We submitted our papers to the attorney for a Chapter 13 filing in February. We are filing on a USAA credit card and most certainly won't be 100% payback. Our auto insurance is also with USAA. Should I expect them to drop our auto insuance and cancel our USAA membership? I am worried because we pay USAA monthly and to find new insurance would require a hefty upfront amount. I would need to start saving for that now. Anyone have any experience with this?

We also had a USAA credit card and have USAA car insurance.

Our Ch 13 plan will end up paying USAA about 29% for what we owed them on the credit card (about $10K).

We're 18 months in on our plan, and not only is our USAA car insurance still intact, but we even brokered a better deal when our daughter moved out and got her own car insurance. Hubby and I are both still USAA members in good standing as well.

If our case is typical, I don't think you have anything to worry about
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

We are members of USAA also. We don't have credit cards with them but I can understand why you are concerned about having to change insurance. Are they cheap or what? We have full coverage on our auto and condo($100 deductible) and are only paying $69 a month.

I also have a Mastercard, auto and renters insurance with USAA, and filed Ch 7 on Nov 19. I had my checking account with them too, but moved everything out to a different bank before filing (on the recommendation of my lawyer.)

The USAA card is the one with the largest balance in my Ch. 7. My 341 isn't until Dec.19th. I've been wondering the same thing about my insurance -- if they will drop it or raise the rates. It's a very good company that I've been with for almost 20 years, and the one that I really feel bad about stiffing in the Ch 7. (It was also my lowest rate card.... which is why it had the highest balance.)

When they called about my payment being late in early Dec., I told them I had filed, and they just politely asked me for the case number, lawyer's name, etc., said they would make sure my records were updated, and I haven't heard anything else.

          Keeping my fingers crossed too!
          10/25/2007 Aha! moment
          11/19/2007 Filed Ch.7
          12/19/2007 341 hearing
02/17/2008 Deadline for objections! tick tick tick ...

I have 2 USAA credit cards in our Ch. 13 and we still have our auto insurance with them too. The only thing is that I can't pay our insurance on-line no more. When our credit cards and checking account were closed that's when we weren't able to access it on line anymore, oh well, no big deal.

            You should have no problem.
