    Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Discharged

    Hi -

I've been monitoring my credit report on Experian since my filing of Chapter 13. I have 3 creditors, Nordstrom, BOA, and Dell that now say Chapter 13 Bankruptcy Discharged, balance 0. Does that mean they have let me go like they would if I had filed Chapter 7? I've asked my Attorneys office, but they're talking in the 'grey' area and I need it black and white. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Got my 341 meeting tomorrow too!! WOOHOOEY< ready to get that behind me!

Unfortunately, you will have BK on your credit reports for 7 years from the date of your filing with a Chapter 13. All creditors as they get your filing information will eventually list as being in BK with a zero balance. If they do not, you need to dispute them to list you as being in BK with no charge offs or late charges, or balance due, listed. It takes a while. Secondly, in the public information section of your credit reports will shortly be listed your Bankruptcy which will be sent in by the Bankruptcy Court. That will show your date of filing and, when it occurs, your date of discharge. There is nothing good about it until the 7 years is up and they start dropping off your credit reports.
