    Trustee Handbook

I've read on here that people received a handbook or letter from Trustee after confirmation explaining the Plan and Expectations?
Is everyone supposed to get something like that? I have received nothing except for the letter stating plan was confirmed.
It's been 6 months since confirmation.
    Filed: Feb 15, 2007
    Confirmed: Sept 20, 2007
    21 months down
    39 months to go

Our attorney gave us a large envelope full of everything we wanted or needed to know about Chapter 13 which included a handbook from the Court and the Trustee and a small booklet detailing the entire BK process from start to finish. Everything was detailed including information on providing tax returns, additional income during the plan, etc. As I always state on here, you get what you pay for and our BK was not that much more than others paid at that date and time for their Chapter 13s - we retained the top BK attorney in our area and I cringe when I read what some people go through

Many state websites have links to the BK Court in which one files and those court sites list all sorts of items on Chapter 13 and 7, about the court and trustees.

I did not get any handbook either, or a letter. My trustee gave me a pamplet and there was two websites listed on it, one with my balance sheet details and one with general with contacts and address information, but nothing that has "rules and regulations".

We never recieved a handbook and the trustee website just has office hours ect. The only thing we recieved was some papers along with our comfirmation that pretty much states that we do not obtain any debt except for emergencies, like medical, or home, We must notify of change in work or address, and that all property of the estate must remain in the estate untill we are discharged. Thats about it. Nothing about tax returns, pay increases or amything else.

We never received a handbook either, just a pamphlet with our case number, payment address and a few other things--it was a one page document folded in thirds. He has a website too, but it's basically useless, and the only "rule" on there is that you must notify them if you change your address. There is nothing about job changes, tax refunds, additional debt, etc.

We got a handbook that our trustee put together. We are in the Southern District of Ohio. If you live in the Columbus area, you must go to a pre-341 class, where the trustee (or more likely his employees) give out copies of the handbook along with other educational information covered in the class. Since I live outside the Columbus area, I didn't have to go to this class, but they gave me the handbook at my 341 meeting instead. It definitely looked like it was personalized to our particular trustee, with his expectations and rules, not a "one size fits all BK districts" type of booklet, so I doubt it would be very usefule to someone with a different trustee. I imagine some trustees give out this kind of info to prevent confusion and lots of calls to their office about the basics, while other trustees don't bother. I'm really glad my trustee put this together for us though, it's been very useful since it's so specific to his expectations.

Well I did find the handbook on the trustee's website. In Northern GA, we had to do our credit counciling... it was an hour online. Recieved nothing at 341 and nothing after confirmation except the letter saying we were confirmed. When I hired my attorney, once I retained him, he handed me off to his associate. She ended up quitting 7 months into the plan..so now I am working with the origional attorney and another associate.

I know they think I am full of questions, but it's because I recieved no information....only what the attorneys told me. And that information is scary because when asking all 3 of them "if we get an increase do i report it"...there were 3 answers

                      1. No.. your already paying so much (i'm at 80%) So we aren't amending the plan again. (This from the one who quit and who made numerous mistakes on paperwork and incorrect information throughout the time I was working with her)
                      2. If change of circumstance changes (which is defined as a 10% difference in increase) you must report it.
                      3. No, You don't have to report increases, trustee will monitor tax returns and decide if he wants to do anything.

What is interesting and so crazy is that there was a new Bankruptcy Law... but everthing is so vastly different in each district and with each trustee. It just doesn't make sense and it just seems so wrong.
