countdown starts on the date of confirmation?

I received the annual statement from the trustee yesterday and it included a letter that said the countdown to the end of the chapter 13 duration starts at the date of confirmation NOT the date of filing. That means I have to pay 5 months longer since my confirmation came that much later than the filing date. Anyone else ever hear of this?

You have to make 60 payments ( 5 years ) or whatever it is that the plan asks for but i thought it was date of filing. That's when it counts on your credit reports.
    Filed: October 1, 2007 341: December 10, 2007
    CONFIRMED: December 10, 2007
Payment: $825 / Mo. for 5 Years-29 MONTHS OF Pmts Down 23 to go!

As far as I'm informed I agree with MajorMike.

Your first payment is due 30 days after your filing date and then every month thereafter unless you are instructed otherwise by your Trustee if there should be any modifications or changes to your Plan. Start counting from the first payment. When your 60 payments are made, your Plan is audited by the Trustee and if all is in order, you receive the discharge usually within 90 days after your last payment.

I am in a 36 month plan and have a chart labeled "countdown". I guess now I'll have to change the figures on it. I filed Aug. 15 and was confirmed the last day of January of this year. I even had my retirement from work geared around the end of the 36 month mark in 2010. The trustee's letter even had it highlighted that it was from the confirmation date for all filers in our county and the surrounding counties and not the filing date. Sure doesn't seem right to me.

That doesn't make sense. The longest plan you are allowed ny law to be in is 60 months, so if you start making payments the first month and you are not confirmed till month 5, then you only should have 55 more payments after confirmation.
