Car lease-money due for excess mileage

I'm in a Chapter 13. Paying my car lease outside of BK plan. The lease is up in November but I'm over the mileage. Based on my calculations I will owe almost $3k. Do I have to pay it or can it be like an unsecured creditor?

GmaS, was this same lease in place when you filed Ch 13?

Yes, it is the same lease. However, it was NOT included in the BK plan. Since I was current and still am, my attorney advised me to pay outside the plan. Does this make a difference?

You have to pay, but if you want to get your next car with the same dealer they will give you a break.
