    Buying a Car in 13

We have a month before we have to turn in the lease car. I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences/advice on purchasing a car in this current credit crunch while in an open 13.

The first thing you need to do is contact your attorney and advise him/her of what you want to do and permission needs to be obtained from the trustee before you can do anything. It may be difficult to obtain a car loan while in a Chapter 13 with the way the economy is right now but it shouldn't be impossible. But first you need to find out whether or not you will be allowed to purchase a vehicle. Best of luck to you.

My attorney says I need to get a conditional agreement from a dealer listing the car, the price and the monthly payment. We send that to the trustee for approval/denial. Then I'll know what kind of payment the trustee will approve and then I can find a car which fits the criteria approved by the trustee.
I was more curious about other peoples experiences trying to get approved by a bank for a car loan while in 13. Unfortunately for me, between my bankruptcy and the current credit freeze, these seem like the worst possible conditions under which to try to do this.
