File date before 12/31 or after? Does it matter?

We had had one thing after another and are finally ready to file. Now we have a huge weather complication that has closed offices, backed up the courts, etc.

We were hoping to file the week after christmas--12/29. However, it looks like we'll have to wait until Jan.

Are there any benefits to filling before the year end? It's still 5 years no matter what, I guess.
    Thanks

Your instinct is correct, it won't matter.

It doesn't matter. The only thing will be that filing, regardless of which Chapter, after 12/31/2008 will require you to file your 2008 tax return.
      Chapter 7 (No Asset/Non-Consumer) Filed (Pro Se) 7/08 (converted from Chapter 13 - 2/10)

Do the IRS numbers get adjusted for the new year?

If so, you may be able to get a few dollars extra allowance for food, shelter, etc...

They already updated on 10/1/2008. These have the new "fuel" numbers, so a little better than the march number.
