If I don't pay my first mortgage while waiting to file ch13 would the arrears to be paid be included in the DMI figure or is it in addition to what they figure as DMI? Would I be better off in the long run paying it if I had the money? The second mortage is not being paid because it will be stipped but in case something happens and it don't get stripped I would need to pay arrears for that. Want to keep monthly payment as low as I can.

Mortgage arrears payments?

The arrears owed on filing day will be added to your plan. The money to pay the arrears in full will be included in your monthly payment, and your trustee will send the arrears amount directly to your mortgage lender.Originally posted by Jf24 View PostIf I don't pay my first mortgage while waiting to file ch13 would the arrears to be paid be included in the DMI figure or is it in addition to what they figure as DMI?
Whether you or your trustee send the regular mortgage payment to your lender during your 13 is based on how your plan is set up and the customs in your local court. In almost all cases, if you can continue to make your regular mortgage payments yourself directly to your first mortgage lender, it's best to do that.
In most cases, yes, it is better to continue to pay the mortgage before filing if you can do so. (Of course, this assumes that you want to keep the house after your 13 is filedWould I be better off in the long run paying it if I had the money?
