    Easy question.

    Hi all,

We are currently in our second year of our BK13. Our 26 year old son just lost his job and is moving back home. We will be supporting him until he gets back on his feet. Does that change the status of our B22 or payments? Is this something I should be talking to our lawyer about or does it make no difference? We are over the median family income. Thanks for your help.

Will your son be collecting unemployment and will you be claiming your son as a dependent for this tax year (2012?). If you provide more than half of his support and he lives with you for six months out of this year you can claim him. You need to go over with your attorney because your son will still have income if living with you if he collects unemployment (did he also receive a severence?) which would be considered household income and your attorney would need to know if you plan to claim him as a dependent on your taxes this year or if you will be able to. Anytime there is a financial change in your situation during your Plan years, always go over the situation with your attorney.
