Adding a Creditor to Chapter 13: After Filing but before the 341 Meeting....Can you?

I filed for Chapter 13 on 5.29.2006.

My 341 is scheduled for 6.26.2006

I just recieved a bill from Direct TV for $425! (long story) and the main reason is that I was charged $286 on 6.9.2006. If I want to cancel my service then there will be another $200 or so on top of that

Can I cancel my service and add them to my list of creditors?

Does anyone know?

No problem, you attorney can file this one also with the Court and make sure they are included in the matrix mailing list......

I agree with Minny, no problemo. In fact, I added 2 creditors just as my 341 meeting was set to begin. When the trustee asked if we had listed all our creditors, our lawyer popped up, I have 2 here to add, will get the paperwork in to you. Trustee said Ok and went on to something else.

Yes you can as the others said. In our case we just paid another $26 filing fee for each thing that was added.

I had a creditor (which I had completely forgot about) send me a bill. I asked my attorney to add the creditor on the account, however, last time I checked pacer, it didn't show up. I simply ran a copy of the bk notification and mailed it to this creditor. Haven't got a bill or crap since then. Hope that was good enough.

I had to add the IRS, 2 months after confirmation. Gotta love the IRS. They came up with this "magical" tax bill from 2002 after we filed. We had filed our taxes and had never heard a peep from them until BK. We paid what we thought that we owed. It costs us $50 to have our attorney to add them. Funny story, we were to receive a refund of $899 this year, naturally didn't get it because we still owed from 2002, which by the way, is currently paid every month from trustee. I talked to the IRS and they told me that they would refund the money (my trustee doesn't take tax returns) as soon as money was paid back. Sounds fine to me. Last week, my tax return check showed up in the mail and I still owe them $600. Talk about surprised!!

This is a timely thread for me - I was admitted to the hospital last night with diverticulitis (quite a surprise - I'm thinking the stress of BK is showing itself). We filed on 6/1 and have our 341 meeting on 6/28. I'll call our lawyer for advice to see if we should include what we will owe on this hospitalization after insurance pays their portion.

P. S. I'm using the hospital's free Internet connection at the moment - a wonderful service to keep up with the board!

Are you sure he didn't mean service date? Cause you can amend your list of creditors for a small fee.
