Cheapest way to send payment to trustee

I will be sending another check to trustee's office at the end of the week. What is the cheapest way to send it where I have confirmation that they recieved it? I don't want a repeat of last month, I can't afford that. By the way, I got a letter from the trustee's office about the check that I stopped payment on, wanting payment immediately. I called them and they said, "sorry, we know that you don't owe that and you are fine, just a computer generated letter." Boy, they sure know how to give me a heart attack.

The cheapest and fastest way is........Electronic Draft from your bank account. (Auto deduction). then you dont have to worry about it getting there on time. The trustee payment is what should be a priority in your entire budget. Without that "mentality" (for lack of better word) I never would have made it through a 5 year plan!

Besides Rob's excellent suggestion to arrange for auto-payment from your checking account, the other two cheapest and most reliable ways to pay the trustee is (1) have the payment taken from your paycheck monthly and sent to the trustee by your work, or (2) deliver a personal check in person to the trustee's office every month. However, as I recall, your trustee won't allow you to drop the check off at his office and you didn't want your work to know you filed.

If setting up an auto-payment from your bank makes you uneasy, you can set up the payment to control when it goes out yourself plus there will be an independent record at the bank that the payment was sent as well. Our bank provides online bill payment as a free service as long as it's used every month. They request a minimum of five days notice, but our bank usually sends the check out within 2-3 days of whatever date I choose. Is this a possibility for you?

I use the online bill payment from my bank. 1) It takes the trustee's disbelief in the excuse "the check is in the mail" by having the 3rd party involvement. 2) My trustee won't allow direct deposit into his account...not sure why.

I do have a wage order signed but so far, nothing has come from my paycheck. I will just continue to monitor and when they start taking it out, I will quit sending my payments in.

I'm sure you don't want the aggravation like last time.

Here are the fees that the post office charges for their extra services:

Certified Mail would provide proof of mailing along with delivery status for $2.40.

I have been in a Chapter 13 for 14 months and our payment is deducted from my husband's pay and sent directly by his employer. I would not do it any other way. I have a record (the notation on his pay stub) and if the trustee claims that a payment was not received, all I have to do is show proof that it was deducted and the employer has to answer to the trustee.

I think when helpless posted last month about the problems she was having that direct/auto payment was not an option for her.

Thanks for all the help. I will go with the certified mail. I can't pay my trustee in person and he doesn't allow electronic deposits or drafts. We can't let it be deducted from husbands pay because of the size of the company (10 People) and the risk that it would put him in. In fact, here in Ohio, it is mandatory wage garnishment, but our attorney requested an order from the judge that we be able to pay it directly to trustee. I just am trying not to jeopardize that order by being late. Learned my lesson the hard way last month to not send it without some sort of confirmation. Thanks again for all your help.
