I am in a chapter 13-14 months into plan; 46 months to go. I am sure by the time that I am done I will feel the same way that you do, but please know that you have been an inspiration to all of us that are in the "club." It would have been easier if all of us could have filed chapter 7 but that didn't happen. For what it is worth, you give everyone hope that you can complete your plan and get to the other side and get out of debtors prison. Hang in there, for the new kids on the block we need you!

You are awesome BKbiker, so few people make it that far. I feel like a wussy compared to you, we were only in ours for 19 months before we paid if off, but it was still pretty hard. The payment was large, over $1300, and that DID NOT
include our mortgage of $1500 and car payments either. So it was a rough ride with not a lot of margin for error.
But, when that two months is up, and you are discharged and closed, you will not believe the freedom and accomplishment you will feel. You won't believe how much money you can actually keep and save each month! Our 13 took
about 75% of my paychecks automatically deducted, and when it stopped I felt like I got an enormous raise! LOL
Keep the faith, and that 2 months will be gone and over in no time, and we will have a "party" for you! A virtual one anyway! LOL

Whoever says debtor's prison doesn't exist any more has obviously never talked with anyone in Ch 13 bankruptcy.
What you have done surviving inside Ch 13 for all these years is incredible, BKbiker - so few manage to stay the course. I am truly humbled and awed by your accomplishment. These last few months must be sheer torture for you with the end so close you can almost touch it.
Any insights to share with those of us just starting on the long five-year Ch 13 journey?
Again, congratulations on an incredible accomplishment and may the last few months of your plan fly by for you!I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

I feel your plan and discomfort. We have been in this process since September, 2004. I hope we can make the final months; the strain has been very tiresome.
Luckily, we have been able to maintain some quality of life using other available resources. We have a vacation planned within the next couple of weeks. The hotel and mileage are being paid as part of a business trip.

Well, I do believe this will be my first post in the chapter 13 section. I filed chapter 7, so although I read all posts on this site, I haven't posted in this section because I have no knowledge or experience with it. But I can tell you one thing. Your 6-7 years was not in vain. I spent 5 years in agony and turmoil before filing chapter 7, paying off all my credit cards but one, and over half of my medical bills. I did all I could, but in the end the predatory lenders decided they didn't really want their money by making it impossible for me to repay them. I tried to repay all of my debt. It was the right thing to do, and you can know that you are a better person not only for repaying everything you could, but by being one of the few to accomplish completion of a chapter 13 plan. Congratulations, the finish line is near. Your new life is but a blink away.

Congratulations, Bkbiker, and hang in there! I'm pulling for you and wish you much happiness!
Chapter 13 is so hard!!!!!! We didn't do so well this past month with our budget and my husband and I were at each others' throats the other day over less than $100.00! We've had several things come up and got a little lax on the lunches out, sodas, etc., and it came back to bite us in the behind.
I'm not sure if my sanity, religion, marriage or "D" all of the above will survive this Chapter 13!
You are an inspiration to all of us!

yeah, chapter 13 sucks. It really strikes you worse when you do something out of the norm...like my vacation. Don't get me wrong, my vacation was really good, didn't really spend much money on the funs part of it, seen old friends, stayed with my mom, did a little golfing but not at the expensive places. The cost was getting there and back, I spent $300 on gasoline. The few bucks I had managed to save while in the 13 are now gone. It will be a stretch to make it to the end of the month.
Don't get me wrong, chapter 13 is better than nothing.Chapter 13 Filed 4/03/06  341 Meeting Complete 5/11/06 :yes2:

Just remember back to those pre-BK months--it is better than that. And now with just a few more months to go, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel so keep riding your bike towards it! Good luck and we're here for you!*** THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE--ONLY A LAWYER CAN PROVIDE THAT. ***

I'm so glad that your 13 plan is *finally* official, biker - what an emotional roller coaster ride you've had. I'm so sorry that your brother's death will be forever intertwined for you with your bankruptcy - both are such incredibly painful events, I can't imagine what the double dose of that much overwhelming grief and sadness has been like for you. You've done an amazing job getting through what would bring most of us to our knees. Maybe your final agreement isn't perfect, but at least it's done and over with - that's no small achievement under the circumstances.
You know things are looking up when Minny says it's Happy Dance Time and now finally it's official! Congratulations!!I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Congrats, BKBiker!!
Not as good as you originally hoped for, BUT,.......... Confirmed none the less.
I know the feeling, Aa.
We had to take that sudden trip for the Funeral. We happened to get lucky on the car. Daughter's car was scheduled for body work from the wreck last winter so we got a freebie rental car for the trip. But there was gas, hotel room, meals, etc. So we came home broke. With basically 3 weeks left to go in the month.

Hi everyone,
Well, today I have been released from debtor’s prison after serving my full sentence (5 years plus waiting time); I received no time off for good behavior, nor any validation for making all my payments on time.
During my time in prison I was neglected by my original lawyer, whom just left me to be eaten by the wolfs. The chapter 13 Trustee ripped out my heart by confiscation my brothers’ inheritance. My 3rd lawyer was prompt but made math errors costing me another 4 grand. My 2nd lawyer was efficient and also very efficient at taking the rest of my money.
I still feel numb; perhaps it has not sunk in yet! I am discharged
This chapter 13 experience has left me emotionally and physically totally drained.
I am grateful for the new financial start; however I am disillusioned at the process and the inequity of chapter 13 cases; how ones case is handled should not be determined by where we live or who our trustee is.
My appreciation to all members here whom have made my last year of bankruptcy tolerable
Take care and best wishes with your cases.
Bkbiker
