What a Difference a Year Makes

I was reading my past posts from May 2005 when I had to convert from a Chapter 7 to a Chapter 13, and had to wait until September before my plan was confirmed. I was a mess.

First of all, Thanks to HMM and Minnymouth for the great advice and support that you gave me last year. I would never have made it without you!

For all of you just joining the Chapter 13 Club, hang in there. It does get easier once your plan is confirmed. The trustee doesn't bother me at all. In fact the trustee's office has been assisting me with payments that they have been sending that have been misapplied at Sallie Mae. Isn't that a hoot? Never in my wildest dreams did I think that the trustee's office would be helping me a year after I filed bankruptcy.

We make sure that our payments are made and received before the due date and stay way under the radar. Every payment that I make is one step closer to the other side!!

As a fellow "problem Ch 13" filer, it's wonderful to hear that you survived the stress waiting out your confirmation and are doing so well now. Gives me hope the same will happen for us - thanks so much for sharing your story!

      Lpnrn,

Any advice you can give to a newbie going back to school to get a RN. I have to find a job that pays above minimum wage and I like helping people. I have a previous bachelor degree in business that is not worth the paper it is written on! Would you get a lpn first and then the rn, or go for the rn first. I am accepted into 2 different programs this fall. Any advice!!!!!!!!! Thanks!!!

Thank you for sharing; I need the encouragement! We have had no trouble since filing and our plan was confirmed on June 14, 2006. I also look at each payment as a step toward a brighter future. Some days it is easier to view it that way than others.

The folks around here have been nothing but awesome to me during probably the craziest year in my life. Job changes, health issues, teenager going down the checklist for adolescent stupid behavior, and BK. Now, to just get Dh's surgery over and done with on the 8th of August, get him so good pain meds (and maybe one or two for me--just kidding ) and we'll be good to go. The surgeon peforming his surgery told him to not even worry about what insurance does not cover and that all he needs to concentrate on is recovering from the surgery. He said the last thing we needed is more stress! His kindness is so humbling! I may not ever be able to repay him personally, but I can "Pay it forward."

Great to hear you are interested in becoming a nurse, DIB! Most definitely go for the RN first, and since you already have a bachelor's degree, look into one of the accelerated RN/BSN programs. You could have your RN and be out and working within 18-24 months. PM me privately and we can talk in more detail - I'd be happy to help you get started.

(Sorry we highjacked your thread, $$only4ever - please carry on...)
