    Mortgage Discharge Question

Not sure if this is the right place for this post. I apologize if this is the wrong forum.

Anyway, I had a bankruptcy discharged in 2013. Mortgage was included. Shows as closed & $0 credit report. The bank, however, still has the mortgage open & the amount due keeps accumulating. I cannot get a straight answer from them as to why this is. The property was deeded back to the bank (deed in lieu) in 2015. Can anybody explain this? Shouldn't the mortgage be closed out?

    Thank you!

Probably should be "closed out" but why is such important? You have no liability so how the lender internally classifies the discharged loan should not matter to you. Your credit report is correctly reporting the claim at $0 and the lender is not asking you for any money. Don't worry about it.

I guess my real concern is that, as I am in a much better place financially than I was several years ago, when the seasoning period is over I want to buy another house. I am hoping this will not cause an issue at that time.
