Will entire student loan become due once I file?

This is something of great concern to me. My brother consigned for a private sallie Mae student loan and i have been making payments on monthly. If I file will the entire amount become due because of their bankruptcy defaulting clause and will he be on the hook for it?

The loan is current and I plan on keeping payments up even through the bankruptcy. I just don't want him to be on the hook for a full 15k.

Anyone had experience with private loans and cosigners?

Just stay current and you will be fine. The ipso facto clause generally is not enforceable as such is against public policy. So long as the lender gets payments the lender is not going to care that you filed bk.
