    Two questions.....

So, we finally went to the attorneys office on September 21 and signed all of the documentation (I had already provided our pre-filing education certificates as well). He said we should have a case number "early next week" (meaniung the week of the 25th) - well, I have now left 2 messages for him asking for our case number, an update, something...and heard nothing back. I had signed up for PACER already, and looked myself up, only to find NOTHING. How long until a case number is usually assigned after filing? Or maybe he just hasn't done it yet.....ugh. Do we receive anything in the mail from the court, or would it go to the attorney directly.

Now onto my next question. I am interviewing for a new job (several interviews actually) because I am sick of not being able to make ends meet, even without the credit card payments. Depending on which job I end up with, I could make between $12,000 to $22,000 more per year (if I end up with any of them at all). If I take a job AFTER filing or AFTER the 341 meeting, how would this all work?

Ugh...can this please please please be over now?

If you haven't received anything in the mail and you don't find your case in PACER, then it's very likely your lawyer hasn't filed your case yet. The case number is assigned when the case is filed. If your lawyer files electronically, then he/she gets the case number in minutes. Time to make an appointment asap to get some face-to-face time with your lawyer for an explanation about the filing delay.

Others in your situation have been told by their lawyers not to take a new job until after their 341 meetings. Since you are filing Ch 7, I assume you are probably under the median income for your state. Making a lot more income could create enough disposable income to push you into Ch 13 - definitely something to avoid if you can.

Ugh...can this please please please be over now? Not just yet, but we've all felt this same way at some time or another. Keep hanging out here for support and venting - we help each othe survive the bad times and cheer together for the good ones!
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

In our case, whenever anything electronic takes place, the BK Court sends us a mailing as well.

Our paralegal sent us an email the day our attny filed our case. She told us when our 341 was scheduled and which Trustee and Judge were assigned to our case.

About a week later, we got a mailing from the BK Court saying the same thing. It was an exact copy of the Form that was posted on PACER about the 341.

If you aren't finding anything on PACER, as Lrprn said, your attny hasn't filed yet.
      Filed Ch 7 - 09/06
      Discharged - 12/2006
Officially Declared No Asset - 03/2007
      Closed - 04/2007

We got our notice in the mail inside a small packet of stuff from our trustee about a week after filing (our lawyer filed our Ch 13 electronically).

Yeah. We got the mailing from the Court about a week after the paralegal sent us the email. But our paralegal told us in the original email when our 341 was scheduled.

You can probably Log In to PACER and check there. Your 341 is probably already scheduled.
