Found out today trustee was a liar

I found out today that the trustee told me I could not use my insurance money without a court order was a lie just an attempt to be a butthole on her behalf. The attorneys 3 different ones did the research and said the trustees tend to give pro se filers a harder time and she cant touch the money and she even filed the no asset no distribution report After she knew of the house fire so we are waiting discharge. There is no court order needed there is nothing in the law saying she can take it because it was NOT a life insurance policy or a total loss or it did not happen before I filed. The two attorneys that were going to charge me just wanted to take my money. I went to the 3 biggest bk filers in my district so they should know what they are talking about and what little work they did or were going to do was pro bono.

By being proactive and getting those lawyer consults, you saved yourself Fo7! I'm so glad that you were able to unearth the truth.

I will never understand why anyone, especially a trustee, would get her jollies jerking around a broke debtor whose kitchen just burned down and is desperate for the money she deserves to fix it. I hope that her cruelty comes around and bites her painfully sometime in the near future.

You must be so relieved now that you know the insurance money is absolutely yours to use with no strings attached. When will the money be available so that you can start kitchen rebuilding and clean up for the rest of the house?

The first check should be sent out this week the second check must go to the mortgage company to be endorsed and mailed to me since it is less than 10,000 they will just sign and mail it to me so I can pay to have it fixed. The first check is to clean our belongings and replace the stove.

The trustee was PISSED (excuse my language )but she was because her boss the US trustee is the one who emailed her because I called her office first to find out if I needed to report the fire (and I was supposed to),and the people in her office said we cant give you any advice so maybe you should call so and so at the US trustees office and i did they said no you are supposed to call your trustee and report that to her. They emailed my trustee and I also called her office back and left her a message. So ,she was mad at me because someone in her office messed up by telling me they could not give advice when they should have taken down that information and never should have told me to call the US trustees office and she got in trouble by her boss for that so she took it out on me. The attorneys said that pro se filers get the cold shoulder from the trustees and some attorneys as well. Crazy if you ask me you would think some one taking such a risk to file with out an attorney and actually does it successfully should be comended but it just dont work that way I guess. I am so thankful to God that we are able to fix our home and try to get back to normal now.

That's a HUGE relief - I hope that Trustee pays for all her transgressions!
