Ours is $35,000 cc/unsecured loan debt; $38,000 short sale deficiency. For a grand total of $73,000 we are asking to have discharged.

We will still have $32,000 in student loans and $24,000 in two different car loans (provided they reaffirm) left after discharge.

So our total debt going into CH 7 was $130,000.

Holy Nellie you guys! BIG time debt. I only discharged $25,000 in unsecured cc debt but for me that was like half a million to someone else.....I think it all boils down to "income vs. expenses" don't you think? $25,000 is very close to my yearly salary (GROSS salary). I had gone for a very long time without paying nearly anything on my credit cards, NOT because I knew I'd be filing BK, but simply because I could afford nothing at all. I went far too long before filing. I am SO much happier now.

100k here all in unsecured credit cards racked up over a period of 10 years. Our lawyer said the most he had ever seen was a single guy who had 240k in cc debt. I do know of a person who filed with 350k of cc debt. It was all run up from daytrading and cash advances.

                          unsecured cc debt = $125K
back taxes (which won't be discharged) = $18K
student loans (which won't be discharged) = $5K
First mortgage (we are walking away from house) = $315K
                          Second mortgage = $75K

Depending on what the bank gets for the house when they sell it, we are looking at $200K - $400K but most of that is the house.
