Make sure you have your last three bank statements and your last two tax returns.

Yes your W-2s and tax returns for 2003 and 2004. Im surprsied your attorney didnt tell you to have that stuff. My attorney asked for all that even before I filed. Did you get a big return last year? If so Trustee will ask what you did with it. The meeting goes pretty quick. Ours lasted about 5 minutes.

I used my tax refund to catch up on my student loans. My attorney said I didn't need any of that stuff! He said I just needed my SS card and my DL!!

Im surprised your attorney didnt tell you that you need that other stuff. When we went to our 341 meeting there were about 6 cases there that didnt have their bank statements and tax returns and the trustee pretty much told them to get them to him within a week. We had a really good attorney. He was well prepared. We noticed there were a handful of attorneys who were not prepared at the meeting.

I used my returns (obtained in early Feb thru e-file) to keep my sinking ship afloat for another month or so - so in essence the creditors already got the $$.

              my 341 is 6/16!

Thats fine for what you used them for. Trustee might want receipts but you will still have to show your entire tax returns and bank statements

I never once had to present W2's, bank statements or anything of the like. My case is now closed. (After being discharged, of course!)

Im surprised you didnt have to present your tax returns or bank statements. Im just telling you what I experienced. Its better to be prepared than not. They want proof of your income and your tax returns tell that. Plus they want to know how much was in your bank the day you filed. Maybe the trustee wont ask for them but its better to be safe than sorry.

I understand your fears I havent even met my attorney yet. Hang in there. I know several people that have filed and none of them were required to bring anything to the 341 except dl and social. I wonder if it just depends where you live, maybe they ask for different things from state to state. For sure though your attorney would tell you what you need so I wouldnt sweat it.

It also depends on if you have a good attorney. I mean when we went to our 341 meeting there where attorneys there that werent prepared. One attorney was representing two different cases and in both cases the trustee asked them both for their bank statements and the tax returns and the attorney sat there with a dumb look on his face. We looked around for a good attorney not just the first one we saw in the yellow pages. Im sure all trustees ask different questions but when we had our meeting he asked everyone for their bank statements and returns. We sat on the cases before ours started also. Im sure yours will be just fine. The majority of them went by easily and without any problems.

good point You may want to take as much as you can. at the very least you will look prepared even if you arent asked to provide it.

I took everything that had been mentioned on this site, even though my att. said I would not need it. It turned out the att. was correct. The trustee did not ask to see anything but DL and SS card. Asked several questions, most of which required a yes or no answer. It was over in about 5 minutes. My best advise would be to go prepared and be honest with your answers and everything will be fine.
