Both nc73 and I will STILL HAVE DEBT that is NOT discharchable (I know you know this ) and so it still doesn't mean we're free and clear. We still have a payment going out to someone and we still owe someone.
I feel your pain about still owing debt after bankruptcy. We are paying back $22K of Parent Plus student loans we took out for our son's college expenses so I'm living that reality too.....and the loans weren't even for us personally!

So if I may ask, what is the basis for your statement to nc73? I'm not trying to challenge you. I just find it interesting that you say that...
My point is to encourage nc73 (and now yourself) to see the glass half-full rather than half-empty.

Sure it would be great if student loans could be discharged too so there would be no debt at all left after our bankruptcies....but by law, they can't be discharged. By saying the slate is cleaner, I'm referring to the loans and cc debt that we DON'T owe any more after our Ch 13s are completed. Also we aren't drowning in debt and swirling the financial drain the way we were before filing either.

The difference between us is that you and nc73 are looking at the situation in a negative way (that you still have any debt is bad) where I'm encouraging everyone to see things in a more positive way (I may still have debt, but I sure have a lot less of it! ). Does that make sense?
