No, it's just a box to check that's required by the new law. No worries. Just get it done and tell your attorney it's finished.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

    06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
    06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
    07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
    09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
    08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

    10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go

They are just going to look at your financial situation and tell you that you have the option of doing debt management, or negotiation, or settlements. They warn you not to do payday loan type stuff, and give you a certificate. It is nothing about teaching you, but rather trying to talk you out of it.

        That is the prefiling class.

At the predischarge class they talk about how to write a budget, living within your means, and the importance of having savings as a saftey net. It's nothing most of us were not aware we should be doing. However, keep an open mind and you may learn something or get some good ideas.

We took the class, they gave us our certificate, we gave it to the laywer, end of story. I don't think we gave even one bit of personal information in the second class.

I took both of my classes online. The first class was just common sense and didn't have that much information. The second class however, was helpful, contained a lot of good information about budgets, separating needs from wants, and how to negotiate the best bargains. I made printouts for future use. My certificates were delivered to me online, and copies were sent to my lawyer.

We took a prefiling class and then right after filing, we took another class. We got certificates online and gave them to our atty. He said we were done then. Are there anymore classes that we have to take closer to the end of the plan, or is that all of them. I don't want to think we are ok on the classes just to find out there's another one to do.
