Expense Question

Hi:
Wondering if the followings would be household expense in BK case?
1. Kids' School Lunch (high school lunch $100 per month)
2. Summer school or sport clinics for kids (~$65)
3. chiropractor's visit, massage therapy sessions $140 per month
if yes, how do they fit in Schedule J????

Ultimately the one person with the best viewpoint of what will be acceptable for expenses in your local court is your own lawyer. What does he/she say?

Having said that, going on what other members have posted before and what I've read online in other cases:

1. Kids' school lunch money - yes, this will be allowed. These costs are included in your food living expenses.

2. Summer school - depends on your trustee and your child's circumstances. Most summer school is not necessary if the hours can be done during the regular school year. Sports clinics - most trustees will see these as optional and may challenge including them openly. The clinic costs may be able to be included in recreation/entertainment expenses - ask your lawyer.

3. Chiropractor/massage therapy sessions - if a qualified physician will confirm in writing to the court that the sessions are required therapy due to ongoing health issues, then they will be accepted. If they are voluntary on your part, then a trustee may decide these are optional activities as well and challenge them. If you can include the costs of these sessions in your standard medical expenses and stay within the "norm" for your community, then you might be ok. Again, a question for your lawyer.
