    surrendering car question

When surrendering a car, will the finance company's attorney work with you about picking up the car? I would really prefer not to have the car taken out of the driveway in the middle of the night. I hope that I can either turn it in somewhere or they can come pick up during the day. Does anyone have experience with this and offer opinions? Will they work with you if you contact them? They stay will be lifted tomorrow during a hearing. How soon will they come and pick up? Will it be immediate? (I was going to do redemption (posted a question about this earlier) but we couldn't come to terms and since I already have another car I decided to surrender.

And, thanks for all the great advice I have received!

Well i myself have been through some repo's, my last one was a voluntary repo. It was with GMAC i called them and told them i couldn't handle the payments any more, what do you want me to do, since the dealership i got it from was like 2 miles away i drop it off there and they told me to see the finance manger, i did, Also had repo were i talk to the repo company and told them were the car was and they pick it up. Also had one taken in the night time. So if you know who coming to get it maybe you can talk to them and set something up, if you think there going to come in the middle of the night, i guess i would take everything out of it, but you would still have to go get your tags, just my thoughts

I surrendered a car in CH7, and I told them whereto meet me and when. It was actually very easy. I also left them about 1/8th tank of gas ..I know...that was childish, but I was still emotionally attached to the car. Not anymore!

We are going to be filing Ch 7 at the end of this month.

We are trying to surrender our vehicle, but Wells Fargo is being uncooperative. We have contacted them on several occasions to let them know our intentions. They have not picked up the vehicle.

Today they called me and told me to try and sell it.

I just want it over with. What should I do?

It's Wells Fargo's decision whether to repossess. You've done your job by telling them your intentions.

Get what they told you in writing and witnessed. Don't do their selling job for them. Enjoy the car with no car payments as long as possible. Keep necessary belongings out of the car at all times in case they change their minds.

I am trying to surrender mine to Americredit, I have had it 6 months with no payments, they told me they won't get it till after the discharge and I can't take it anywhere. I even canceled the insurance and registration after telling them I would. They politely asked me not to park it somewhere that it will get towed. The day I get my discharge I start calling them several times a day just for fun.
