Please reply ASAP!! I need declare Bankruptcy!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just found this site a week ago and wished that I had found it a long time ago. I am about $40k in debt, 1 personal loan from HFC and the rest are credit card debt. HFC has sent me a letter thru their attorney that they are suing me and I should response in about 20 days. The rest of my credit card debt are in collection and it is past due. I have been harassed at work and home and I try to avoid them, I know I cannot hide anymore. A friend advised me to file for Bankruptcy but I did not know much about Bankruptcy and have heard horror stories but after finding this website, I finally had the nerve to call an attorney and spoke to him over the phone and my 1st meeting will be on Tuesday. I was actually ready to file Chapter 13 as I have a house and the house is listed in both my name and my husbands and he has never been late on the mortgage payment or our car payment and he has very good credit. due to circumstances I am not able to tell my husband about my debt and wish to file alone and do not want to ruin his credit. I made about 42k in 2007 and live in Nevada. The attorney I spoke to said that I will be eligible to file for Chapter 7 and to continue making the house payment and never ever default.
Let me know if anyone has done this and will I have any problems doing the Chapter 7 and keep the house like the Attorney says. I will be filing as soon as I see the Attorney I have gone thru hell and back and I not going to ruin my life because of this costly mistake that I made.
I am so happy that I finally decided but please please let me know if they will be any problems that will arise to keep my house. As my husband pays the mortgage from our joint account there is not way he will default on the payment. The house and the Bofa checking account is the only thing we have together. Thank you so much in advance for reading my long message and please let me know what are the questions I should ask the attorney. Thank you
