    I need help!!!

I recently retired and I am finding out that I got myself in some trouble
with several things. I have two overdrawn bank accounts that I cannot get caught up on plus a business that I am $1700.00 in the whole on. I have some unresolved credit cards that are in the hands of collection agencys. Everything is unsecured debts and I am not in the whole more than about 7000.00 but there is no way to get caught up. The worry is working on my health and I need to be home with my husband more than I need to find another job because of his health. I cannot afford an attourney. Can I do this on my own and will it include the bank shortages???

I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with this during your retirement. These are supposed to be your golden years. I think that if you have a pretty simple case, no assets, you should have no problem filing on your own. I do believe you can include any monies owed on bank over-drafts. You might not be able to do business with those banks for a long time, but there are many banks to choose from, so that's not such a big deal. If you have a great deal of assets...house, property, cars, etc., it might get more difficult for you to keep everything. You only have 7 grand in debt, and if you have many assets, the trustee will surely make you sell some of them to pay back you debt. You can always have a free consultation with an attorney. Based on what he or she says, you should be able to know if you should file on your own or not.
