Citifinancial Auto anyone? What's their stance on reaffirming?

We are assuming the lease we have with Ford Credit; therefore, I don't think the court will approve us reaffirming our other car that we have financed through Citifinancial Auto.

I don't care if we can't reaffirm, as long as they are cool with us continuing our payments and keeping the car. Our attorney said he doesn't know what Citi's stance is on reaffirming. He said that automaker finance (Chrysler, Ford, etc) take a hard stance and MAKE you reaffirm if you want to keep the car, but that most non-automaker lenders don't take a hard stance.

Anyone have a Citifinancial Auto loan that they didn't reaffirm but just kept making payments? How do I find out if they're ok with that? Is it ok to call and ask? We're still a month away from our 341.

    I don't have Citifinancial.

Both of our vehicles are with Ford and my attorney said we could keep both if we wanted. We are only keeping one.

I don't see why you couldn't call them to let them know you want to keep the car.

I have an auto loan through CitiFinancial. I told them yesterday that I would like to surrender the car to them. I didn't tell them I was filing BK because I didn't want to throw up any red flags, but they certainly wanted to work with me rather than surrendering the car.

I said no to all their offers and they are processing my paper work now for surrendering.
      Filed 11/14/13 ____FICO 515
      341 12/23/13 ____FICO 545

I may have misunderstood you... you are looking to surrender the car BEFORE you file? If so, DONT!! Keep that Repo off you credit report and surrender the car in BK.

I agree, that is what I am doing. I filed and the SUV will be leaving whenever they come get it.

We are also surrendering a gas guzzling SUV... It currently sits in our CU's parking lot with no plates or insurance

My attorney said once I filed that I would probably have the SUV until close to discharge.

I have Citi Financial and I called them this week to see when they would come and get the van we signed the intent to surrender for. The woman was very nice and said they will send someone to get it after they receive my discharge. She said we will be contacted before they come out. It is making a nice yard planter right now as the registration has expired but I would still like to know when they are coming. We never heard one peep from them through the whole process. Dont know if this helps any but just wanted to let you know that we havent had any trouble with them as far as the BK goes.

so... can I surrender the car anytime in the future?

If I don't reaffirm and just ride through with my car loan, and I'm able to be approved for a car loan, say a year from now, I can just surrender my current car? If it's IIB, it won't be marked as a repo no matter when i surrender it?

I can't afford the insurance on the vehicle. I'm surrendering it to them this week.

It's 160 a month for just the vehicle. I have a bad driving record. I can't afford to throw away $160 a month on something I don't use.

Ok, I can see why you will let it go.

Are you allowed to not have insurance on a car if you are giving it up?
