Wow pretty messed up situation, but look at it this way, it could have been even worse. The job I got when I was a senior in high school was open because the previous woman who had it decided to embezzle $10K to support her bf's cocaine habit and he left her the minute she ended up behind bars, plus she had to pay about $95 back every month after she got released until she paid back everything she stole along with IIRC fines and interest. I did that job for years and got a chuckle everytime I deposited the check from the Dept. of Corrections who had garnished her wages and wondered if she learned her lesson. Sounds like the ex had himself a nice little shotgun wedding. I suppose since you cosigned that him coming after you was the only way you were responsible, because if he could afford to just cut them a check and pay the balance the creditors would have left you alone since they could have got it all from him. You're better off without someone like that anyway. An old boss of mine last I heard was still with her younger man who stood her up at the alter multiple times and who she walked in on having sex with her daughter. I guess some people never learn. My best friend's ex kept pushing back their wedding, but at least they never had it all planned with money being spent out, but he finally got fed up and moved out. I told him she liked her horses better anyway since she was buying and paying room and board on them and all her other pets when they were struggled to afford food for themselves and sure enough after he moved out she bought another horse. LOL

I wouldn't worry too much about the ex or the apartment, if those get listed and they get discharge there are big fines for trying to still collect. I kind of wish my creditors would try, the extra money would be great.

I'm not sure what form the lease should end up on, but the car should be on Schedule D since it is secured even if you are reaffirming as I told them was my plan from the start. There will be another form you'll be seeing soon for the reaff unless they wait until the 341. I believe you still have 45 days after the 341 to reaffirm anything.

Woops missed your earlier post because I posted another at the exact same time.
I wondered the same thing when I was filing as doing so makes you take a real hard look at your expenses. I was shocked I was able to make it so far and before filing I was still paying a few dollars over minimum. The last payment I had late before I stopped paying after I filed was back in 7/99 and I'm surprised I was able to pull it off.

BBB is the one thing I didn't think to do, closest I did was google his name and try to find any info I could about him that way.

Yeah it does open your eyes when you hear people's stories. I used to look down on bankruptcy because the only person I personally knew that didn't kind of take advantage or outright abuse the system was an aunt and uncle who filed on their office supply business years ago. They were a mom and pop type and just couldn't compete with the big chains once they rolled into their town up north. They were actually way better off financially though shortly after filing they said then they ever were before so it was a great thing for them. The ones abusing the system soured me to the idea which is why I never even gave it serious thought until mid June when I saw the light. I knew there was no way I could handle those increased minimums as I was barely handling the current ones. I had heard of the changes in law when they were passed, but never heard a peep about the minimums changing until then and that decided it for me. I was in the same boat with begging money too. My dad's probably glad I'm not asking him you got any money I can borrow for about 2 weeks to pay a bill?

I had just switched my unemployment checks to direct deposit which worried me as one had just come in before my papers were filed so the figures on the form weren't the exact amount then even though I tried to pull some out quick enough. The trustee thankfully never uttered a word about my exemptions/assets or my expenses so it was needless worrying in my case.

I'm going back to school for the network specialist associate's degree at Gateway. I did a year at Marquette years ago for Accounting, but my grades were pathetic mostly because I had problems concentrating due to worrying about how the next year was going to get paid for and partially because I was just burned out. I suppose I should have just picked one of the state schools I was accepted to. I would like to finish getting my Bachelor's someday though and even though it's been a while I guess it's never too late as I heard an 88 yr. old woman just got hers finally so that makes me feel better. This right now is more of a back up plan as I've been trying to get an electrician apprenticeship, but they aren't filling any spots until next summer. I do start working for them soon so hopefully it will be a foot in the door and not conflict with the classes which I scheduled for nights to try and be able to do both. If they aren't able to accomodate me it looks like I'm going to have to decide real fast which is the best choice for me.

My sister's boyfriend is in the same boat - just got out of the service and can't find a job. I think he applied for a welding internship and they gave him the same response ... nope, not for a year. The job market sucks!

It took me forever to get out of college - I wound up with two BAs in the end and 60K in debt. One of the BA's is a total blow off degree, can't do much except teach. The other one paid off because I'm in the actual profession. Although, I look back now and wonder if it was a mistake with all the debt I accumulated - it was a great experience though.

Wow - we are totally off thread topic Ah well, makes me feel special. Obviously, didn't get much work accomplished today - so everyone have a nice weekend!

Yup, especially here as we have the highest unemployment in the state and just had another company shut down and put over 600 out of work. They said for this apprenticeship that the average age of current journeyman is 39 so they decided not to add more this year and flood the market since they don't have a bunch retiring. I thought it was due to retirees that prompted them to move the interview I just had the end of last month from mid Oct., but they just wanted to offer these other openings I guess as you didn't qualify until after the interview.

I had a cousin like that, think it took him about 10 years to finally finish since he kept changing majors between different schools which meant different core classes and then started going off and on and finally finished now with online classes. Initially he wanted to be a music teacher until he learned it didn't pay well. I could have told him that before he even took any classes. I have no clue what he finally majored in, not the friendliest as he's gotten rather snooty.

I've at least got some errands to unemployment and the college done along with laundry between posts. Had to find something to keep me busy between loads and you learn a lot about the bankruptcy process on the forums.
