    Joining The BK Group

I just wanted to say hi and that I'm glad I found this amazing resource to help guide me through the BK process.

I've been lurking for a month now and have learned a great deal by reading all of the amazing posts on this forum. As I head into the BK process, I am feeling much more informed than I might have been otherwise.

The first attorney I talked to, just before finding this forum, was a total idiot. My wife and I were so freaked out after talking to him. His prognosis: We'd be forced into a 13, would likely need to give up our house, and would have to give up our first born child.... That night I scoured the net for answers, then I found this amazing site and found out that all BK attorneys are not equal. We then started interviewing attorneys. This third one was a perfect match for us (we interviewed 5).

I retained my attorney yesterday and started letting the creditors know today that I'd retained a BK attorney. In just the last 12 hrs, the phone calls have stopped.

I'm now waiting to be safely within the means test and will likely file first of Sept.

Just to begin the process is very liberating.

    Welcome! Im a newb too.
Not only am I not a lawyer, the California BAR association has sent me numerous letters telling me not to even THINK about going to law school. In fact, the lay advice I provide is not even good. In the end remember, you get what you pay for, and here in BK land were not the best at paying.
