Who is the Worst & Why???

Just a little survery of what CC companies are the worst to deal with and why????

I think for me the worst is BOA. YUK!!!!!!!!!!!

They told me my interest rate was going to go up to 29.99% at that time we were never late.. So they said I can opt out and closed my account and go back to 9.99%. I said OK and signed the paper and sent it back to close the account and I would continue to pay at 9.99%. So after that, I received a call from there CS rep. stating that they made a mistake and that my account will cotinue to stnd at 9.99% and I can continue to use it at that rate. So i figured F them I would never use it and just pay it down. So about 1 year later I got a 3.99% interest rate for a cash check to have it directly deposited into my checking, so I called them and spoke to them about it and she said yes that was the deal. So I said ok direct deposited 2000.00 into my checking. So my next statement I get it shows that transaction but at a 29.99% interest, so naturally I called them and the fight began, they lied and That nobody ever called and said that. Then I said I also was sent a letter, they clim they never did. I could not produce it becuase I am horrible at record keeping. So I said close my account and put it back to 9.99%. They said nobody ever did that. I did have the letter sating 3.99%, I sent it to them and they denied it and said t stands as it. So I defiantely would say that BOA is a LIAR!!!!!!!!! Never trust them. Not only that, but had to fight with someone in India, as if I wasn't pissed enough!!!!!

American Express, hands down for me. I was a month late on two of my cards through them (I had NEVER missed a payment on ANY of my accounts until this past June). They immediately turned me over to NCO and Nationwide for each of the cards, didn't want to work with me, etc.

The same day after a horrible, mean, 20 minute long phone call with Nationwide, I retained my lawyer and realized that I couldn't do it on my own anymore.

But that's ok because I got to turn in Nationwide for breaking FDCA rules. So THERE!

They called my step father and told him how much I owed, that I defaulted. As I'm sure you've found out from just being here, they can't ask anymore information than how to reach you, who your employer is.

So I called the Hotline through the FDCA and filed a complaint. When I talked to the lady on the phone about it, she said that if enough people have problems, they will open a class action lawsuit and notify anyone who may be involved.

Apparently I also have a year to sue. Which, after my BK, I probably won't press my luck.

We had a MasterCard through Universal AT&T, then later a MC through Sears. The AT&T card was the major one with a cap of around 40K. The Sears capped at 5K. I don't know the details on them, because 'Hub took care of all the bills. Our major problem with the AT&T card was that 'Hub was trying to help out his worthless brother, and gave him unlimited use of the card. Bad, bad, bad! Of course there was no being paid back or anything. We just knew the cards were maxed out and with the payments we were making made no dents at all.

However, 'Hub has had a little satisfaction out of it, since AT&T took over his company, NCR Corporation, in an unfriendly stock take-over that ended up destroying NCR for all intents and purposes, which cost 'Hub his 40 year career.

We had no problems BKing that one.

Just as an FYI Nationwide is not a collection agency in and of itself. It is just AMEX's collection branch. It's all AMEX. AMEX are the Nazi's of the CC world.

I always thought it was odd that AMEX is such a bunch of narcissistic jerks with what they think is the best card on earth, yet you can't use their card half the places you shop.

I am so with you on this!!! They were THE WORST for me too. Less the 30 days late and they started the calls. They were the first to turn my account to NCO, who also were pretty frickin bad too with calls at 10 pm on Sunday nights and 4 am every day. I'm in Alaska and we have 4 hrs difference from east coast, so I assume NCO starts at 8 am, which is 4 am for us. And I held out for 6 months. Once I got their number programmed in, I set my phone to not ring for them and all was good.

But AMEX was the worst for me, followed by Capital One. They both called everyday for almost 6 mths.

All of my creditors called after less then 30 days. In fact, Home Depot (aka Citicards) called me THE DAY I was late.

All my creditirs called me about a week after I was first late.

I don't blame them though. They were just trying to get back what I spent.

I'd have to say AMEX for credit cards and Chase for mortgage loan. They are relentless!

I agree with the pp's about Amex...but I also had Chase, which was bad.

We had 2 Chase cards, one with 10K and one with 6500. We had to close the one with 10K on it because we didn't "pay enough down to their satisfaction". Had we kept it open, our rate would've been 30%. When we filed, we had it paid down to 8700.

They called us the day it was due. Unfortunately, because we had 2 accounts, this meant double the calls. They called 3-4 times a day for each account.

It's a tie between BOA and Chase. They both jacked up my interest rate even though I had NEVER been late with them. My minimum payments doubled. When I called about it they said it had to do with my credit report looking riskier lately. I immediately closed my accounts with them.

On the flip side, I have always been very happy with Citibank. They never jacked up my rates and actually lowered them after I had been paying for several years on time. I kind of feel bad about discharging that debt but I'm sure they earned more than enough on interest from me over the years to cover the amount I am discharging.

                              Capital One ROCKS!!

                              FYI:

I was just discharged from a no asset chapter 7 case one month ago, and just for the hell of it, applied for an unsecured Capital One card from their website and low and behold I was approved!!!! I got a credit limit of $750, 0% APR until March/2009, and then an APR of 14.99% on all purchases. NO annual fee, NO monthly payments, none of that bullshit. Plus they report to all 3 bureaus and life is good. I must say I'm very impressed with them! No hassels at all!
