Well, I am doing it, I am filing chapter 7 this Friday 9/5/08. After paying lawyer fees, filing fees and the like, I will have a whole 36 dollars to last me 2 weeks. The fridge is empty, and so are the cupboards, the gas tank is low, and so are my spirits. I hope I am doing the right thing. It is going to be a long 2 weeks till payday again, I am feeling down and out. I hope my cats dont get mad if i eat their food. I wish I was them and not me sometimes. Ok, I feel a little better talking it out of me. Thanks for the support, I know I will be fine, but I am just feeling sorry for myself. It is a hard row to hoe when you know you put yourself in the situation and it wasn't some sort of life changing catastrophic event. Ive mention before, I have an addiction of sorts and it has now become the financial ruin of me. I am going to find a support group or something, I am sick of living like this. OK, I am officially done venting/pitying myself. Thanks!

You might look to local churches for food. Most will provide help even if you aren't part of their congregations. They might even assist with a little gas money. Most likely they would invite you to church and if possible might be nice to attend a couple times as a thank you.
In particular Catholic Charities and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are good about helping out souls that need it, many Baptist and Methodist churches do so locally as well so probably will in your area too.
Good Luck.
In the end even though it will be tough two weeks you'll be better in long run.May 31st, 2007: Petition Filed by my lawyer

Cheers up you’re doing the right thing. I was broke for a month. We had 175 for a month for gas food we shopped at the dollar and day old stores and I was amazed how little we spent. I got down to using the lawn mower gas the last too days of the month but I made it.Chapter 7 07/30/2008

Do any of you have any close friends or family that can help you out with food or some cash to tide you all over until things get straightened out? All of us, whether filing Chapter 7 or 13, go through this period and believe it or not, you do survive - it's the lifestyle change that gets you because you are so used to having the credit card to use if you don't have the cash in the checking account or in your pocket. It's a hard lesson to learn. Learn from this as we all do - while right now is bad it will get better. You will also surprise yourself how thrifty you can be when it comes right down to it.
As other posters have mentioned, there are food sources our there and do not be embarrassed to go ask. Lots of people are hurting right now in this economy. The way to start is to call your County information line or local churches or check your paper for listings of agencies that have food or services available. There is stuff daily in our paper free for folks for everything from foreclosure education so you don't get scammed to where to obtain food and medical help.
Best of luck to you all and hang in there - eventually it will all be a thing of the past._________________________________________

MNBK7guy - keep the head up man. Two weeks will go by and you will be reading this post saying "It was nothing".
I get a kick out of BK. You need block of gold and a few rare diamonds to file for BK (oxymoron huh). But trust me when I say you will be glad you got an attny. My original attny was a freakin derilict but found an awesome one thereafter.
As my father told me once "I cried when I had no shoes until I met the man that had no feet"
Your in the right place - and trust me when I say this "We all been there"Filed: 01/23/08

Sorry to hear you feel that way. Just remember you are not alone, lots of people are in the same situation as you. Talk is good. Try not to hold anything in. You can pm me if you want to talk some more. In the beggining of BK is hard because we are not used to live like this but it can be done.
Good Luck!!
