    Discharged...but have questions

    #2
You mentioned that you received your discharge, but does your case show CLOSED status now? Were you a No Asset case? Was the $15k bonus expected at the time of your 341? Did the trustee ask you if you were expecting any sort of windfall or increase in compensation?

If you case is CLOSED and if you were No Asset, then I would say you are probably fine to keep it and vacation as you wish. I am not an attorney, so I can't give you any legal advice -- but, I think the key here is to verify your case is now CLOSED.

    Good luck,

Once your bk case is discharged and closed, it's over. Be sure to put enough of your husband's bonus away to create a good emergency fund, then take whatever is left over and take that vacation. I hope your increased income will arrive as you hope it will as well.

Now that your fresh start is finally at hand, remember to take all your hard-earned lessons along with you and NEVER let yourselves get into this situation again.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

You are discharged girlfriend! Congrats and go enjoy yourself (but pay cash, okay?).

You have nothing to worry about here.

Hi CAT50. I wish you would have posted earlier so as to become an integral part of this wonderful community. In any case, WELCOME.

But, you are not too late to participate in a relatively new custom, i.e. the DISCHARGE DANCE:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You earned it!!! Here you go!!!

Thanks everyone. Since we did not have a honeymoon, this will be great for us. Our first priority will be saving money Irprn, thanks for the advice and care.
Angelina cat, loved the dance. thank you. I found this website after 341, so I just kept reading and it answered most of my questions. But I am glad and thankful for this forum, it helped us get some sleep on those sleepless nights. Thank you, Thank you.

I'd take half of it or more and put into an emergency fund.

However since it is wages paid after the discharge/closing it is freely yours.

I'd set a budget for the vacation and not go over it.
