Are they going to tell me to get a job???

I most definetly believe I have a job, one of thee most difficult at that, but unfortunately most people don't agree that it is a "job"...

I have just heard if you try to apply for food stamps, they make you fill out some type of paperwork proving you are trying to get a job or something along those lines. If they do that for food stamps then I feel like bk is a much bigger deal and they must ask some sort of questions as to why I don't work.

I just wonder if my reason as to why I don't work is a good enough reason to a judge????

Many stay at home moms feel as you do but the "job" you do have is not a job where you are paid by an employer. That is a big difference. Raising kids for both moms and dads is the hardest job in the world whether it is by itself or whether you juggle it with a paying job outside the home.

Also in your situation, it would cost more for you to get daycare to work outside the home than if you stayed home. That should make sense to anyone with the cost of daycare these days unless one has a great paying job to cover those expenses and leave funds over to pay bills and household expenses. In 1987 when I went back to work after a two month maternity leave and put my daughter in daycare as an infant, I was horrified that it cost $125 a week (think 1987 now...) so I can imagine what the cost is now for someone to work outside the home. Many factors have to be figured in where there are children involved as to finances.

Also we must admit that there are many moms/dads who stay home and really have the time to go out and support the family if the children are past school age instead of sitting at home watching soaps, etc. I know of a few women in that capacity and they state they just have it "so hard" but are really too dependent to go out and get a part-time or full time job to help out with finances, or there are cases with the spouse will not allow them to get a job...I know of that case scenerio also with friends of ours....

At our 341 yesterday, the trustee asked a woman why she was "only" working PT. She was flabbergasted, as were the rest of us in the room! Her response was that if she worked FT, her kids would be in child care, which would eat up the income she was make, working PT allows her to have family care for her kids at no charge.

Luckily for me, we got a different trustee, but that was interesting!

This is what I am talking about... My kids won't even be on my case so then it looks like I am a lazy bum! They can think I am a lazy bum all they want, I just don't want it to effect my case. Do you have the oppurtunity to explain your situation? Thanks everyone!

I only work part time and get my support from someone I live with. I don't really have very many assets and don't earn much money. I don't have children. I wasn't asked at the 341 anything about my working situation. Even if it were part time or not. All they have is your schedules, the means test, and your tax returns to show income. No questions. The trustee has declared it no asset and I am in the 60 day club. I am scheduled for discharge on January 14th, if there are no delays for some reason. I follow PACER and haven't seen anything odd. I don't think they will ask you questions. You have been honest, which is all you can do!

Their agreement when they got married was that she would stay home and raise the kids/take care of the house while he worked (they married both for the second time in 1983, she having two kids from first marriage). They had two of their own thereafter. However, when they first married they could do it on his full time job but the expense of her two children eventually had him taking on a second job. He has worked both jobs, during the week going from one to the other, since 1985. He also sometimes takes on a third job. He will not allow her to help out by getting a job even though their youngest just turned 16, two are married out of the house and one a sophmore in a community college who works part time. The man works his tush off and refuses to allow his wife to work and has already been through 3 major surgeries during that time. I believe there is more to it than just that, though, as she did not complete high school or it all stems from their original agreement when they married. Anyway, they still cut corners and do without but are fabulous friends that we can rely on for anything.

So yes there are men out there that do not want their wives to work and work their butts off to support their families.
