    Lottery winnings or gambling winnings would fall under income as lottery/gambling winnings are taxable and reported to the IRS (anything over $600). That is information that would need to be provided to the attorney/trustee during that period of time.

      Let's just say (wink, wink) - that I already received the gift for Christmas and it was sitting in the garage already. Would it be in my best interest to wait to register it with the DMV until after I am closed?

        They can't take any amount above what you owe. So if you owe your creditors $60k, they can't take more than that. And if you think you might possibly inherit money within 180 days of filing, then you should be honest when the trustee asks you.
