Did my trustee file a prop. insurance claim?

    Hi All,
It's sunday, and I'll get to the bottom of this tomorrow morning.

First some background...I included in my Bankruptcy 2 apt buildings when I filed in Dec. They're the bank's problem now. I havent' called to cancel the prop insurance, because I was waiting for the case to close.

So yesterday I get a letter from some "Adjuster", saying they'll be handling the insurance claim on one of my buildings....

I never filed any claim!!!! ...is this something the Bank is doing with the Trustee to squeeze a little money out of the process?

Another possibility is that someone in the building or doing work around the outside on the property had an accident and filed a claim. Also it could simply be an error and the insurance company sent the claim letter to the wrong person.

If you still have online access to your insurance account (doubtful given that you've already filed), you could check for more info there. Otherwise you and your lawyer are going to have to get to the bottom of the "claim" and if it is not a mistake, then see who filed it, why they filed it, and when.

The worst part.....if the claim was filed for an event that occured *after* you filed and is legitimate, then you could be held responsible for paying whatever may be left after your insurance company pays out. Let's hope that is not the case.
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
