I should change my name to "KingBankruptcy". I don't think anyone on this form has as many creditors as I do for their bankruptcy.
well, it's not exactly something to be proud of.

I'm using the lawyer who had the car payment-free for 3 years. I don't know if it can happen for me, but if I manage to squeak out 8 to 12 months, that's $2427 to $3709 that I will have extra to use as a down payment on a brand new 2010-something. And that $2000-4000 will be in "addition" to the other money I am trying to save. I need to sock away $1,000 per month for 12 months.

If I don't do this, then I will have to go to Auto Trader for a beater car like a 2004-2005 Kia Spectra or some other cheap car.

Right now I am striving for a brand new car with a HUGE down payment. That's plan A. Plan B is the used Kia or Hyundai route.

I really want to stick with Plan A. Lots of improvements have come in the crash tests on many of the cars. You can see a big difference in the crash tests from a 2004-2005 Toyota Prius to a 2009 one. Same thing with many other cars that were unsafe to get T-boned in or have a head on collision.

I will keep you guys updated. Just remember, if I file in August and make it to January and still have my car without payments all that time, you guys need to be cheering me on as your bankruptcy ring-leader!!

$2100 for Chapter 7. I guess it was worth it, or maybe not with all of my post bankruptcy problems, as my lawyer answered every question I had right on the spot through her legal assistant. None of this "She will get back to you". I read other posts and hear horror stories where calls are not returned for days or weeks.

    $1350

$1350 out the door that includes the filing fee. I paid for the classes seperately.

Not enough details. How many people? How is it so cheap compared to the $2500 I paid?

$2000 for the attorney and they added a $550 filing fee. I paid in full just over a week ago. Married couple doing a Ch. 7, no asset case. Going back at the end of this month to sign all of the paperwork and get instructions for those pre-bankruptcy classes I guess.

In the contract I signed with this lawyer, it stated that his fees include up to 25 creditors. On the list I gave him of all the people wanting money from me, it has almost 70 people listed. I posted that list on here a long time ago if you can find one of my old posts. In the contract it says "$300 for every 10 creditors above the 25." So I suspect when I go back, he's going to want another $1200-1500 on top of the $2,000 I gave him. So this whole ordeal could end up costing me up to $3500 for everything. I will know on the 29th.

Rooms to Go and GMAC won't be paid this month so that way I can buy groceries.

We paid a $600 retainer a year ago...$299 the day we filed for the court costs..and on the day of the 341 we will owe our attorney the balance of I think $400 for her fee.

...the vast majority of you are paying a lot less than i did! but don't regret it and experience with firm has been very positive and even after BK/discharge, they still answer my questions...

anyway, we paid $1000 to retain, then installments until $2500 total.

$369. I belonged to a Metlife/Hyatt Legal Plan that I can use for a wide variety of things, like speeding tickets, etc. I pay 16.50/Month for the last year. I suppose you could say that I paid in advance?
