The company I work for is the "Cadillac" of our product. Customers buy it because of brand, reputation and value. They know that they may spend more, but our products lasts longer, works better, and is backed by a solid solvent company. Our company stock price went up during the whole recession and stayed above $100 the whole time. That tells you something about value.

On the other side, I do believe that volume-driven business, like Wal*Mart, K*Mart, Target, all derive profits from pricing. But I think Kia/Hyundai are different and can't be compared to anything else. Wal*Mart is selling Kellogg cereal products at a discount. While Wal*Mart does sell Sam's or other brands, it's hard to compare Wal*Mart because they do sell some "quality" products within their walls. I'll go to Wal*Mart and I buy quality items (Clorox Bleach, Tide He, Bounty paper towels), but I won't buy their meats or any of their off-brand products. Why? I put a value on quality, price, contents, and taste. That's the value for me.

Many of these off brand products are made by the same company making the quality items you use. Also. things like bleach are bleach regardless of the label and your whitey tighties will come out nice and clean. I'm disappointed there isn't an off-brand of He detergent available.

Wal-Mart does not derive profits from pricing. They derive profit by setting the selling price they are willing to pay the suppliers. Nobody wants to be shut out of the Wal-Mart market.

Absolutely false. You know nothing of selling. I sell a product that is often more expensive than what our competitors sell it for. The difference is we add more value. VALUE sells, not price. If the consumer feels the VALUE of the product is greater than the price it is worth buying.

Now, MSM's are successful because the good MSMers are able to fool (or guilt) the buyer into thinking the product's value exceeds it's price. This is often done with false testimonials, so-called free product and false hopes.

Yes, but if they didn't have to pay so many people in the "upline" they could sell the product for a lot cheaper! Of course they continue to exist because the top tier people are making tons of money off of suckers. Just because something has been around for a long time doesn't make it less of a ripoff or less annoying.

The fact that the websites are not shut down is not a good indicator to whether it is illegal or not.

If Amway's all purpose cleaner was superior to the stuff at Target, someone would have copied their recipe and sold it in Target. MLM stuff is hard to sell because it isn't worth what one must pay for it. Nobody ever buys anything unless they feel it is worth at least as much if not more than the selling price. MLMers succeed not with superior products but with high pressure sales tactics and overblown product descriptions. Xango cures everything and they have testimonials to prove it!

Most MLM's are a waste and only a few people ever succeed at them. If I were to look at the MLM pyramid as half-full, most would accuse me of being half-blind.

MLM's are really not a successful business model and anyone who purchases product from these games is paying way more than they should.

Most people who become MLMers do so primarily so they can get their own products at a discount. They rarely sell anything.
