Why not? Education is always good. I'm not knocking that. I'm just saying it's an investment with no guarantee, just like when you invest into an MLM or any kind of business.

Why is it a nice to have thing if it's unnecessary?Originally posted by debtmonster View PostNo guarantees that you'll make money.
I've met a LOT of people who have degrees who aren't making anything. I have a friend of mine who has a PhD who can't find a job to save his life.
I used to work with a co-worker who was making $8/hr. after getting a Master's Degree since he couldn't find anything else.
If you want to get a job with the government, then a degree is smart. Or if you want to join the military, I would highly recommend it.
I think you're better off to have a degree than not having one, but it's still an expensive investment with no guarantees of the outcome.
I have several friends who never went to college and are millionaires. When you work for yourself, you don't need a degree. It's just a nice to have thing.

That's also a risk you take for an investment.
I'd rather take a $190 risk with Amway's stuff. Plus it's not really a risk. It's products that you're going to CONSUME. You don't have to sell anything if you don't want to. Unless you don't use soap to clean your laundry. That's up to you.
I have a friend who sells Amway and I like buying the stuff from him. It saves me money over buying the stuff in the store since it lasts so long. There's value there.

I make the pan version, use more than one flavor of chips and cover the whole thing in fudge frosting. To die for!Originally posted by justbroke View PostTollhouse... don't bring that up. The Tollhouse cookies (pre-made) are still off the shelves! I absolutely love homemade Tollhouse cookies!

I don't like the Pop-Tarts that have the sugar coating on top. I prefer the "plain" ones, like classic Strawberry, Brown Sugar, and the new Cinnamon.Originally posted by OhioFiler View PostI actually prefer an off-brand of Pop-Tarts over the Kellogg's brand but I also found a great recipe by Alton Brown for homemade ones that are fantastic!

MLM's require an investment which is at risk. Comparing that to being the commissioned salesperson at say an Auto Dealer is silly. The auto salesperson can walk at anytime without risk of lost capital. Once you buy your DEMO supply of Amway products for your in-home parties you have quite a bit at risk.

No "pyramid" there.Originally posted by debtmonster View Post... just like when you can go to a flea market and buy from the people who who make arts and crafts and what not.
Let's see, the vendor had to pay the flea market operators for booth space. The flea market operator had to rent the lot from it's owner. The owner of the lot had to buy...
The vendor had to pay for the paints and pieces of wood used to make their craft. Those people had to buy raw materials to produce those products. Some farmer, logger or miner had to get the raw materials ready for use....

Everything you buy is from an MLM.Originally posted by OhioFiler View PostMaybe you should start your own MLM website!
Who do you think the distribution companies are? What about sales people and managers?
When I used to work at a retail store, it was nothing but a big pyramid. I would earn a commission. Then my manager would make a commission of my sales. Then the store manager would make a commission based on what the whole store made. All of those middle people making money as your upline. It's all a scam no matter how you look at it.
They just need to make it so everyone can buy from the manufacturers DIRECTLY with no middle man... just like when you can go to a flea market and buy from the people who who make arts and crafts and what not.

Maybe you should start your own MLM website!Originally posted by debtmonster View PostI wish they would make the off-brand taste the same. The only off-brand foods I like are from Save A Lot. I don't particularly like their meats, but the cereals and canned goods seem to be okay for most of it.
You guys should love this. I was checking out those Cash Gifting sites and bookmarked many. I was planning on doing them after I was able to get some money saved up. Check them all out now and see what they have in common. Take note of the date I book marked them. Not all that long ago...

All of them were nice looking sites with video testimonies and what not. Click on each link and take a 5 second peek.
It's time for the "I told you so" posse to come in and start ragging. Let's hear it.

But when I eat Chips-A-Hoy versus Sams-A-Hoy, there is definitely a taste difference. I don't like the Sam's product, so I don't buy it. Cookies aren't the only area in which the off-brand product has not passed my quality standards. We buy off-brand pop-tarts from time-to-time and the kids won't eat them. Same with instant Oatmeal (Quaker versus off-brand). I tried, but they just won't eat it... neither will I.

I wholeheartedly agree on the "He" stuff. I can't find much of it outside the Tide product and it's very expensive. As far as Bleach, you could have different balances of the ingredients, so while I think bleach is probably the same regardless, there are other products that just don't match.Originally posted by OhioFiler View PostAlso. things like bleach are bleach regardless of the label and your whitey tighties will come out nice and clean.
I'm disappointed there isn't an off-brand of He detergent available.
Well, I'll only add that Wal*Mart is based on volume pricing. Whether the supplier wants to play or not... is part of the formula. It's a true pay-to-play (or should I say reduce-to-play) system.Originally posted by OhioFiler View PostWal-Mart does not derive profits from pricing. They derive profit by setting the selling price they are willing to pay the suppliers. Nobody wants to be shut out of the Wal-Mart market.
