PACER - Good way to find the best attoney?

I remember that somebody mentioned that we can find some BK cases and attorney names in PACER.

Is it possible to check my attorney's past BK cases through PACER?

I have two competative attorneys interviewed but I am not sure who is the best one for my somewhat complicated BK case.

If I can find any similar BK cases from the them, it shuold be a good decision factor to retain one of two attorneys.

Any information regarding attorneys' past cases would be appreciated.

It is an avenue to examine your prospective lawyers cases and their outcome but does take time and can end up being expensive. It should not be solely relied on since pacer will not list or anyway indicate the level of service they provide to their clients. It's not a bad idea but should be one of many avenues.

No. It's not the best way. If you want the best way in my opinion, reputation is always a big thing. Recommendations from friends, family, colleagues always goes far with the medical and legal professions. I would also venture to say that looking at your local bar awards and perhaps publications, would indicate who the "best" of the litigators are.

Also, the attorney with the fanciest and best website, is not necessarily the best attorney. I would also say that a more seasoned attorney is better, but their rates may be higher.

You should be comfortable with your attorney and able to share anything with them. That should be the foremost quality an attorney should have.

Also, if you have a complex case, the most experience in your type of case is a critical factor.

In my case I wanted an attorney that handled only BK's, knew the area Trustee's, and knew the pitfalls of my particular case and could argue effectively with the Trustee. It is hard for your attorney to support your position if he sends someone else to the 341, right? So, you might want to find out if your particular attorney actually attends the 341.

There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes - if your attorney does not have an excellent paralegal - think twice about hiring them. It takes more than just a good attorney, the paralegal is important too.
