Almost had the same conversation with Discover card. Could I borrow money from friends, family, anyone. She even asked how my daughter got to school and who puts gas in my car. She then asked how my daughter paid for college, was she receiving student loans. This woman was a vulture by the name of Coriene. Same deal also, lower payments for 12 months and then the interest would go up to heaven knows what.

We stopped paying in late May, after retaining an attorney, on his advice. The calls started in a week later. Discover was the first, followed by another smaller bank creditor. The attorney told me to answer the phone, tell them only that I had retained a lawyer and was filing for bankruptcy, and then give them the attorney's name and number. Both calls were surprisingly, very friendly. Of course these are probably account reps and not collectors (yet) since the bills were only 1 week late. They took my info down, the smaller bank asked me what chapter I was filing and I told them they would have to ask my attorney that question. So far so good. We sign the petition next week and it will be filed by the end of the month.

I too, just had a call form Chase, well DH did. They were very kind and wished us the best of luck. All our calls stop once we tell them we are filing. They have all been kind. The only one I am having probs with is BofA and that is an automated deal that won't stop. I did call the number back yesterday and speak with someone and she too was nice. However I can't seem to get off that automated thing. I took the call again tonight, went through all the steps and then when I was to be transferred to a person, it hung up on me...LOLOriginally posted by kartoons19 View PostFreeatlast98,

Like I said it happened almost a year ago..I cant see any way to prove it now although getting them their money back plus putting a grand in my pocket right now would really be nice.-Filed Ch7 pro se 04/14/2010
