Funny. #8 is what I did when I finally returned state-side permanently. But good article, helps keep things in perspective.
      Stopped paying: 08/10, Filed CH7: 08/27/10 , 341 & No Asset Report: 10/6/10, Last day to object: 12/06/10, Discharged: 12/07/10, Closed: 12/08/10

I love #8- A friend and I are both filing for BK7 this month and we have kept each others spirits up by joking about moving to Bali and leaving it all behind.
I am not an attorney. I am just a fellow passenger on a sinking ship. Anything posted above is my opinion or best guess, and nothing more.

I actually was the opposite. I was stationed overseas and was having to use local, non-US based financial services....at close to 34% APR for prime cc's, almost 73% for subprime cc's. Dumped them when I relocated here!

Looking at my current credit-mess, I'd say filing for BK is going to improve my credit.

Great article. I like how it said that a person with a bk can raise their score after two years, but I also like #4-you won't need them unless buying a car, house or getting a job or credit. A good credit score isn't everything! Thanks for passing on the article.

This is a good article and because our credit scores suck right now due to job loss, I don't see how the hubby will ever be able to get another job if a potential company keeps looking at credit scores...

its an evil cycle --- you lose your job ---your credit score pluments --- can't get a new job because of bad credit score
                  Chapter 7 filed 11/4/10 ---- 341 Meeting 12/1/10 ---- Discharge 1/31/2011.
