Had credit couseling today, fees waived - nice surprise!

I had my credit counseling today and went in a bit nervous. The paperwork for the session arrived last week, in Spanish and I was unsuccessful in obtaining the English version. A rep on the phone said - here's the 10 things you need to bring, so I brought what I had and all went well. It was not so much counseling as going over the budget I used to have versus the one I have now (rent, food and utilities.)

At the end the counselor said she went ahead and waived the fee - woohoo - and that she'd waive the fee for the post-discharge class. It paid to be poor today, I guess. I received my certificate which I will deliver to the Bankruptcy Court tomorrow. It needs to be there in the Clerk's hand by day 14 after my filing or my case gets tossed.

And, in my mail I received the notice granting my request for the Ch 7 fee to be waived. Little things, but it all adds up. Awaiting my 341 on 12-16. So I'm moving forward!

that's GREAT news!! shoot you are LUCKY...we had to pay $100...50 for the before and then another 50 dollars for the last session...so many either didn't have to pay...or had reduced fees...you were apparently one of the lucky ones!!!

    good luck!

Well, silly me, I did not even know what the fee was and thought because it was done by a state agency, that it was free. Just something I did not think/know about, so I am glad she brought it up....versus holding my certificate over her head and saying "pay up or 'ya don't get it!"

            Way to go chicagoannie!

...we had the same experience, the counselor looked over our numbers and said we were so bad she couldn't sleep at night if she charged us.

Hey, I'll take whatever I can get....
