    GE Money and Walmart

    I will be filing Chapter 7 in July. Made a Walmart Card purchase in May for $45 which I intended to pay off in full. Walmart Card (which is owned by GE Money) is not listed as bankruptcy creditor. However, Paypal Card is listed as bankruptcy creditor---which is also owned by GE Money. GE Money has not sent bill for Walmart purchase, but sent form letter (same form letter sent for Paypal Card with different account number) requesting bankruptcy information for Walmart Card. When I check the online account information for Walmart Card, it states $45 balance and $0.00 as payment due. I went to Walmart to pay in person, but they showed no payment owed so I couldn't pay.

    I intend to pay this amount in full whenever I get a bill. My question is: Will this affect my BK-7 filing? Like creditors (GE MONEY) showing up? Advice appreciated. Thanks.

      I noticed you said GE Money is NOT listed as a creditor? I could be wrong, but I thought all debts had to be listed? That's what my attorney had told me before I filed.
      Filed: 5/22/07; 341 Hearing: 6/27/07;
      Confirmed: 8/13/07; DISCHARGED 4/17/2012

        All debts must be listed on your BK petition. Don't throw your money away and pay the debt. Just list it on your petition. Are you worried about them objecting to discharge? If so, don't. $45 dollars isn't worth the trouble to file the objection. It also isn't enough money to be presumed fraudulent.

        Filed Chap 13 April 2010. Discharged May 2015.
        $143,000 in debt discharged for $36,500, including attorneys fees. Money well spent!

          Why would you want to pay that bill? You won't have the card after BK, so what's the point? It will not have any effect on you BK. Don't pay it.
