We filed at the end of late May and we were told there was a slight chance we would have to turn over part of next year's refund. At our 341 meeting, it was never mentioned in our case. There were people there that were told they would have to turn over a portion of their next return because of the amounts they received. I think it's worth it to get out of that debt and on with your life! It will work out!
Thanks! I think it is worth it too. Like I said - I never expected it at all, as we had filed in June. So, now that I have calmed down, etc, I'm fine.
we filed in april and had a HUGE refund. our atty advised us to immediately spend the money. we did exactly that, and we were never even questioned by the trustee, we are talking over 10k here. (that was HUGE for me )
also i was thinking, maybe the trustee was looking at the fact our only income was SS, EUI and a pension (because it was one of the types of pensions that is exempt), possibly since they were all three exempt incomes and the EUI was going to run out? we also got so much back for our relocation costs, which of course, the following year would not have be applicable. so i think we "lucked" out. i would like to say no, it's because i was so brilliant and figured this all out LOL! i actually believe our trustee's office really looked carefully at everything, in an odd way reassuring.
