Newbie Here, Please Help Me With A Car Question....urgent

    HI,

My wife and I have retained an attorney. We are at the very beginning stages of filing for a chapter 7. We have stopped paying on our debts for a couple months now. My credit score is about 430, and my wife's is simliar. We have a car that we were paying on (2000 Dodge Intrepid) and the car's transmission went. We owe about $3500 and the car is in my name. I just started a new commission only job that pays $2000/month before my commissions start rolling in in a couple months. We have tried desperately to get approved for any sort of auto loan to replace our ruined car. (We also replaced the engine on this car!!!! UGH) I don't want to keep lowering my already disgustingly low score. Any idea what bank if any will approve me or us (my wife is a stay at home mom with no income)? We are really in dire straits without a car. We must find a way to get approved somewhere. Thanks!

      Hi!

Just thinking off the top of my head, but wondering if there might be anyone willing to co-sign for you or loan you a car temporarily? Perhaps someone in a faith-based organization.

If I think of anything else or find another resource I will let you know. Wishing you and your family all the best--

With a credit score in the low 400's, I have to be honest and say it will be difficult. Try Ford Credit, I understand they are BK friendly.

Another thought...if you aren't paying your creditors, can you scrape together enough to buy the most reliable junker you can find for cash to get you through the months to discharge when you can start repairing your credit in earnest?
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Been there, done that! I'd just let them take the car with the BK, get yourself another car that will get you around. Looks like this one is costing you more than it is worth. We had the same thing happen, sort of. It would have cost us more to repair than to just get a car to hold us out until we could make a little more money to get a better one.

Another 1 you can try is GMAC finance. they may require a 1K downpayment though

Try 722 redemption car loans. I heard that they are pretty BK friendly. As long as you have enough income to support a car note and they can do work in your state they may be able to help you. Good luck
