    GEMB/Lowe's

GEMB/Lowe's calls about 10-12 times a day, everyday. I dont always answer but when I do they just hang up. This is really getting annoying. All of my creditors have stopped since we told them of our intent to file and gave lawyers number. What gives???

unfortunately, they dont have to stop until you actually file. I guess since they just hang up, you might try being proactive and call them and give them your info.

If you know it's GEMB/Lowe's why even answer?? And Wayne-o is right - they can call as often as they want between 9 and 9 every day until you actually file.

If this creditor/collector wants to waste their time calling so often, fine - doesn't mean you have be a victim of their game. Obviously nothing you are doing is reducing the number of their calls. So shift the power back into your court. When you know it's them, just pick up the receiver and put it right back down immediately. Or you can pick up, then leave the receiver on the table and walk away until you hear the dial tone or the operator.

At least this way you don't have to listen to the ringing. You are in the driver's seat here - take advantage of that and use your own 'ignore' power!

I was answering so that I could give them my info so that they would hopefully stop calling- it worked with all the others. It is just baffling to me as to why they call if only to hang up- dont they want to talk to me? Our lawyers meeting is tomorrow- filing should happen on Wednesday so it doesnt really matter anyway.

good luck with your filing. It does not make sense the way some collectors act. Suprisingly before I had decided to file GEMB worked with me really well to pay them off. They settled for .40 on the dollar.

BB2U, why are you even talking to these vermin? Keep in mind they are asking these questions for twp very specific reasons - the obvious one to harrass you to the point you pay them something and the hidden one to trap you into saying something they can use against you if you do file.

Unless you are just holding your creditors at bay and really don't intend to file, the collection experts say that before filing bk your goal is to ensure the caller knows you are who they are trying to reach and that's it - nothing else. Politely hang up even if they are in mid-sentence. There's too great a chance you'll say something they record that you could come to regret later.

I think I Lowe's a whopping 300 bucks!! It is so strange that the ones we owe 15K to never bothered but some get nasty over 300!! We also got alot of calls over our medical bills, some for as small as 75 bucks. Never got nasty but they were persistant. Filed yesterday, and neither phones have rang yet today.
