BOA charged off a card in 60 days?

Did this VP state to you that they would remove the two late payments after you paid that account in full? Since they initiated the chargeoff after two late payments, your paying the account in full after the payments were already missed may just show the payments as being late for 60 days and also the months they were late. The date you paid the $1,000 will also show. He could put a statement on his credit reports as to what occurred as to that account also but note that those are almost never read by creditors but it's better than nothing. The problem is getting around the two missed payments. One late payment on a first time basis they sometimes will remove if there is a good reason and the account is in good standing; the second late payment creates your issue. If he had a perfect payment record prior to this time, I would certainly bring that up as a fighting point and point out the chaos of moving and things being confused/lost and see if they will budge for you. Anything is worth a try but this is an excellent lesson for your son which he will not soon forget...plus he should really thank you for your help._________________________________________

flamingo,
Sorry, but I read your response(s) as a lecture more than helping me with a solution. As if I hadn't already heard all that from the bank.
sure, you suggested we go to the bank and speak to the supervisor, but you apparently had not read where I had said I had already done that and in fact paid the balance due at the same time.
so, from my perspective, you were more interesting in lecturing. something I really don't think was needed.
thank you none-the-less.

I'm sorry you viewed my initial posting as a "lecture" but if you reread your first posting, you said you just went to the bank to pay off the $1,000 and a few other details and said nothing about speaking to a supervisor - you said that in your response back to my initial posting. There was a lot of excellent advice to you in these postings on this topic, even from me. I am sorry you took that as a "lecture" and I certainly wish you best of luck in getting your matter resolved. I put 4 kids through college so I know exactly how things can go with them.Originally posted by wegrew View Postflamingo,
