    Reaffirmation and repo

I am learning more and more each day (or at least I can ask a question semi intelligently).

If I do not reaffirm a car lease can they repo it if I am current?

Sounds crazy to ask but better safe than sorry.
Very fortunate in the grand scheme of things but have learned my lesson.

I asked the same thing....plus if I keep making payments without a reaffirmation will it be hard to get the title (since technically there is no loan)?

Some states don't allow repossession of cars if the payments are current - others have no such law.

However, given the current state of the economy, it's unlikely a creditor is going to repossess your car if you continue to make on-time payments. Unless the car is worth a lot more than what you owe on it, keep making the payments. You should be able to keep the car.

Now about the title - that depends on the lender. A few lenders have been known to give filers the run-around after they pay off the loan. Then you may have to retain a lawyer (or try small claims court) to wrest the title out of their cold, bony fingers But most lenders send the title along once the loan is paid off.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

Thanks, I am in California. I could research it but feeling lazy tonight.

Anyone know the status in my state?
