However, I started down this path in 2006, before the death spiral. As of this month, almost all of my outstanding debt (not counting student loans) is 9-12 months away from my state's SOL. Either this will be a lawsuit intense year, or I will never hear about much of this debt ever again.
I've had very similar experiences to yours with respect to whether or not they sue after DV, and like you, my debt was charged off well before everything seemed to change in the financial world, and they became so sue-happy. As of today, only two rather small debts are still in SOL and they will be beyond SOL soon, even counting the now longer SOL for my state. Only CapOne bothered to sue me. The rest seem to have given up. I have checked all of my credit reports lately, and there are no hard pulls or soft pulls from any of them.

I think the odds of any of them doing anything at this point are very low.

I gave up DV'ing creditors a long time ago. Some of them would send out a huge packet of information including years of statements and the signed application. Others just sent a small paragraph which said who they bought it from and for how much.

I started just sending them all a C & D letter, and haven't had a phone call from any of them in a very long time.

I will offer a prediction for the coming year. I think it will be a quiet and uneventful year in terms of hearing from junk debt buyers and lawsuits.

I think when the debts get this old they know that they are probably never going to get anything back from them.
    The world's simplest C & D Letter:
"I demand that you cease and desist from any communication with me."
Notice that I never actually mention or acknowledge the debt in my letter.
